Managers Guide (PDF)

Your employees are vital to your company’s success. Yet, at times, they may experience personal problems that can affect work performance. Personal problems can be successfully treated before performance problems escalate. Early identification and appropriate assistance are key. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides an important link for timely professional consultation, evaluation and assistance to ensure appropriate help in addressing your employees’ personal concerns. The EAP can also assist when performance is impacted, and areas such as attendance, attitude or general productivity are of concern.

The EAP offers unlimited telephone consultation to managers, supervisors and human resource staff on employee and workplace issues, including:

  • Employee personal problems that interfere with work performance
  • Problems dealing with troubled or difficult employees
  • Concern for employee suicide, violence or other workplace behavioral risks
  • Coping with the aftermath of a traumatic event

Whenever there is concern for employee safety or fitness for duty, such as risk of suicide or violence, follow all company policy and protocol, and involve all relevant parties, including security and human resources, to evaluate and respond to the immediate risk. First and foremost is to always ensure the safety and security of all individuals.

For assistance, call us at the EAP toll-free number found on the home page, or contact us online to request a convenient time to speak. EAP Account Managers are available to consult, advise on an appropriate course of action, and when indicated, facilitate referral to EAP Counselors.
